Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, and skid steers to move earth, materials, and equipment.
- Drive and operate commercial vehicles (e.g., dump trucks, lowboys, flatbeds) to transport equipment and materials between job sites.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to complete projects to specifications.
- Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
- Perform basic maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
- Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment operation, fuel usage, and transportation activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction, excavation, or related fields.
- Experience transporting equipment or materials .
- Licensing:
- Valid Class A or B CDL with a clean driving record.
- Any additional equipment operator certifications a plus (e.g., NCCER, OSHA, MSHA).
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in safe operation of multiple types of heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and load securement practices.
- Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
- Extended periods of standing, sitting, climbing, or operating heavy machinery.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or travel as job demands.
