Base pay range
$120.00/hr - $150.00/hr
The approximate pay range for this position is between $120.00 and $150.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location. We comply with local wage minimums.
Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Chief Cybersecurity Engineer to join their team! This position is located in Bethesda, Maryland.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal cybersecurity engineer for enterprise systems, focusing on hybrid on-premises and cloud environments
- Lead cybersecurity efforts for transition projects, migrating systems from on-premises to hybrid cloud solutions while maintaining security compliance
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity architecture, standards, and policies aligned with federal frameworks: FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA
- Provide expert guidance on risk assessment, vulnerability management, and mitigation strategies for enterprise networks
- Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and cloud teams to implement secure system designs and operational controls
- Advise leadership on cybersecurity strategy, compliance, and technical risk related to hybrid infrastructure
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior cybersecurity engineers and cross‑functional teams
- Conduct technical reviews, audits, and assessments to ensure secure system operations and regulatory compliance
Desired Skills / Experience
- 4+ years of experience in a governmental organization performing cybersecurity engineering functions
- 2+ years of experience as a cybersecurity engineer
- 2+ years experience with government (FedRAMP) hybrid on-premises and cloud technology stack environments
- CISSP certification
- Experience in transitioning systems from on-premises to hybrid on-premises and cloud networks is strongly preferred
- Hands‑on experience with cybersecurity architecture, risk assessment, vulnerability management, and compliance frameworks
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills for addressing complex cybersecurity challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical discussions, executive briefings, and cross‑functional collaboration
- Proven ability to mentor teams and lead cybersecurity initiatives across enterprise environments
