Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the Project Managers, Field Supervision, and Accounting team, the Project Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial performance and reporting of a large-scale mission critical project. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can effectively coordinate with multiple team members to ensure accurate and timely project accounting.
Manage project-specific billing, including generation of detailed customer invoices, tracking contract values, change orders, and lien waivers to ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
Maintain and reconcile project cost reports, ensuring accurate job cost projections and timely reporting to Project Managers, Controllers, and Executive Leadership.
Process and track subcontract agreements and purchase orders, ensuring terms and conditions align with company standards and project-specific requirements.
Review and code subcontractor and vendor invoices, validating against purchase orders, contracts, and delivery tickets.
Collaborate with Project Managers and Field Supervision to ensure accurate and timely cost-to-complete forecasts, change order documentation, and budget tracking.
Provide monthly financial reports and participate in project review meetings with leadership to assess project performance, risk, and profitability.
Function as a liaison between project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and accounting to resolve discrepancies and maintain compliance with corporate and client standards.
Assist with audit requests, client-required reporting, and other duties consistent with a large-scale construction project.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
3+ years of project accounting experience in the construction industry, with preference for large or mega project experience.
Strong knowledge of job cost accounting and contract billing.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, advanced formulas); proficiency in Word and other Office applications required.
Experience with Spectrum ERP or other construction financial systems strongly preferred.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven work.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across project and corporate teams.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to take ownership of financial processes on a high-visibility project.
