We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving the student body as an Assistant Professor of Spanish beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. The department seeks an energetic candidate to develop and teach Spanish linguistic courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, both in traditional and online environments. The selected applicant will support the development of the Spanish program, advise students and serve on program and department committees as needed. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a solid research agenda in their field. About UTRGV

Department/College Background

Our department currently serves approximately 880 undergraduate and graduate students. We are a dedicated team of 10 faculty members (6 tenured and 4 professional track), offering a wide range of courses primarily in face‑to‑face formats at both the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses. Minimum Qualifications

PhD in Spanish or closely related field (e.g., PhD in applied linguistics). Demonstrable potential for a strong research and publication record for tenure‑track appointment. Demonstrable potential for teaching excellence for tenure‑track appointment. Willingness to learn UTRGV’s online platform (Brightspace) and to occasionally teach online. Preferred Qualifications

1 peer‑reviewed, scholarly publication in the area of course content within the past 5 years. Salary
