Reliability Engineer New Bern, NC / Full-time

Your responsibilities The position, Engineer, Maintenance, reliability, supports our manufacturing facility in the following ways. Total lifecycle management and record keeping of manufacturing plant equipment assets, identifies opportunities for improving equipment reliability and performance. This includes developing and maintaining total productive maintenance (TPM), preventive maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PdM) strategies in our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). In addition, recommendation and coordination of spare part inventory to ensure timely availability of PM and critical material. The incumbent will also utilize data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies in order to recommend repairs, modifications, and replacements of assets to maintain factory equipment reliability.

Actively manages smooth incorporation of engineering changes into production

Designs, evaluates, improves, and implements modifications to plant equipment

Generates and implements cost saving ideas

Incorporates lean manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility

Works with external suppliers and contractors

Generates planned work packages to CMMS for implementation of corrective and modification work

Manages plant equipment asset spare parts maintained at BSH

Responds to critical downtime events per escalation policy

Maintains department licenses and support agreements

Represents department at daily production meetings

Assist with tracking of department KPI’s

Specific Responsibilities

Work closely with maintenance technicians and operators to develop and implement maintenance strategies that maximize equipment reliability.

Create and update plant equipment maintenance plans (TPM, PM, and PdM)

Analyze ongoing plant equipment issues contributing to lost time related to technical failures (Data sources - CMMS, Shift Book, etc.)

Monitor and evaluate equipment conditions (via oil samples, thermal images, vibration readings, etc.) to predict failures and suggest preventive and corrective maintenance

Coordinate repairs, modifications, or replacements in order to improve overall factory run time

Lead teams in root‑cause analysis (RCA) efforts to solve ongoing and repeat maintenance related technical problems (Driven by 8D, OPL, SMC, MGMT, etc.)

Participate in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) efforts to identify needed modifications and critical spare part lists for new and existing equipment to ensure the safety of personnel and the reliability of equipment.

Retro fit existing factory equipment with devices to implement PdM technologies

Basic knowledge of equipment and software necessary to troubleshoot, maintain, and modify equipment and programs

Maintain up to date site equipment specifications for PdM requirements

Act as resource to maintenance department technicians

Utilizes CAD software effectively to identify, analyze, and/or design equipment needs and requirements

Load leveling of planned maintenance jobs

Creation and coordination of purchase orders as required

Occasionally analyze, discuss, and solve complex engineering problems with sub‑contractors and suppliers to avoid supply shortages and factory shutdowns

Performs work under close supervision

Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher level staff

Your profile

Bachelor’s degree (Reliability Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study) – Required

Certification (Completed Apprenticeship; Journeyman Mechatronic or Automation Electronics Technician) – Required

0‑2 Years of Experience (General) – Required

3‑5 Years of Experience (General) – Preferred

Working knowledge of predictive technologies (Vibration Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasonic Analysis, Oil Analysis, Power Quality, etc.)

Basic training in AutoCAD or any other CAD application, SPC, Plant Layout.

Technical knowledge of manufacturing or assembly processes and machinery

Enterprise resource planning system experience (SAP preferred)

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts

Proficient use of 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (AutoCAD, Siemens NX, or Solidworks, etc.)

Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques, such as vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to detect early signs of equipment deterioration

Exposure to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing

Experience with Data collection methods and statistical analysis

Understanding of Measurement system analysis

Understanding of Statistical process control

Strong verbal and communication skills

Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)

Excellent organizational / co‑ordination skills

Computers, measurement systems, machining equipment, hand tools, power tools, welding equipment.

Completion of a two year program with a completed apprenticeship or bachelor's degree in Engineering required

The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.

40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).

12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
