Regional Director of Maintenance POSITION SUMMARY The Regional Director of Maintenance provides guidance and support to Maintenance Directors of assigned facilities on all aspects of overall Maintenance of the facilities, including performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, ordering and requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed. They provide guidance to Maintenance Directors on how to perform preventative maintenance checks and documentation, State Survey compliance, Life Safety, and other related areas. They also support the Maintenance Directors in evaluating the efficient operation of all systems and equipment and making changes, as necessary. This position would provide technical expertise and advice when hiring facility Maintenance Directors and participate along with the facility Administrator in monitoring and managing job performance of facility Maintenance Directors. This position helps teach new Directors their role and provides support in areas where they have a skill gap.
RESPONSI BLITIES:
Maintenance Oversight:
Guides Maintenance Directors in managing safe, clean, and efficient facilities, including equipment systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarms, etc.) and outdoor areas.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensures all maintenance operations meet federal, state, and facility regulations, including safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness.
Staff Management:
Supports hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and supervising maintenance staff while promoting a safe and inclusive work environment.
Preventive Maintenance:
Coordinates and documents routine maintenance, repair work, and preventive care of all systems to avoid safety hazards and equipment failure.
Inventory & Budget Control:
Oversees ordering, storage, and inventory of maintenance supplies within budget guidelines, working with vendors and tracking purchases.
Facility Compliance & Quality Improvement:
Participates in audits, inspections, education, and continuous quality improvement initiatives to ensure high operational standards and resident satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of general maintenance systems (HVAC, boilers, electrical, refrigeration); Boiler license required, MN Class C Engineer license preferred.
Relevant Experience:
Preferred background in healthcare or long-term care facilities; high school diploma and at least 2 years of maintenance or power plant experience desirable.
Leadership & Communication:
Must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and effective communication across departments and with diverse populations.
Personal Skills & Compliance:
High emotional intelligence, resilience, multitasking ability, and must pass a background check per Minnesota DHS guidelines.
