Responsibilities

Interpret electrical and control system drawings, including single-line diagrams, I/O lists, and network topologies.

Develop functional design specifications (FDS), control logic narratives, and data mapping sheets.

Configure and program PLCs, RTUs, and HMIs (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, GE, SEL, etc.) for power, signaling, and process systems.

Design and test SCADA databases and control logic per project‑specific communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC 61850, TCP/IP, etc.).

Support system integration with third‑party devices (e.g., protective relays, meters, sensors, VFDs).

Execute field installation, loop checks, and I/O verification for RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA panels.

Perform FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) of automation systems.

Troubleshoot control system issues during commissioning and warranty support phases.

Configure and test communications between RTUs, PLCs, and central SCADA servers via redundant fiber, copper, or radio networks.

Implement cybersecurity best practices aligned with NERC CIP, IEC 62443, and company IT standards.

Generate as-built documentation, test reports, redline drawings, and commissioning logs.

Provide end‑user training and O&M; documentation.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or related field.

3–10 years of experience in SCADA or automation system design, configuration, and field commissioning.

Strong working knowledge of PLC/RTU platforms (Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix, Siemens S7, SEL RTAC, Schneider Modicon, GE Fanuc).

Proficiency in SCADA software (Wonderware, Ignition, iFIX, WinCC, ClearSCADA, or equivalent).

Understanding of communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, IEC 61850, OPC UA).

Ability to read and modify AutoCAD electrical schematics and network diagrams.

Field experience commissioning industrial control systems or traction power SCADA networks.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in rail transit or heavy rail SCADA systems (e.g., DART, WMATA, BART, AMTRAK, TTC).

Familiarity with power system components (transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays).

Experience with HMI graphic development and alarm management.

Understanding of RTU redundancy, telemetry, and remote communication architecture.

OSHA 10/30 and FRA, RWP, or similar rail safety certifications preferred.
