Position Overview At the Texas Education Agency’s Office of Governance (OG), we support school systems, keep students safe, and uphold Texas education law. The Division of Governance Interventions is a high‑impact, mission‑driven team focused on strengthening leadership and improving outcomes in local education agencies (LEAs) across Texas.

The role reports directly to the division director and leads the strategic rollout of commissioner‑appointed interventions, with a focus on Boards of Managers. Responsibilities include developing project plans, coordinating cross‑agency collaboration, and ensuring smooth execution.

Flexible work location within Texas may be considered for qualified candidates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Intervention Coordination – manage the coordination of commissioner‑appointed Boards of Managers, develop detailed project plans, facilitate planning meetings, manage cross‑agency collaboration, and oversee logistics to ensure smooth implementation.

Corrective Action Plan Monitoring – monitor corrective action plans issued by units within the Office of Governance and draft monthly status reports to assess progress and support LEAs meeting expectations.

Process Improvement – collaborate with colleagues and the division director to refine policies and procedures that advance the division’s goals; partner with other agency teams to document and share effective practices, tools, and resources.

Division Support – support the division director and the Governance Interventions team with monthly reporting, training coordination, and quarterly performance reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university.

Experience: At least four (4) years in compliance monitoring, project management, and/or district administration.

Substitutions: An advanced degree may substitute for two years of required experience.

Other Qualifications

Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings effectively to achieve project outcomes and support cross‑divisional coordination.

Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations (including the Texas Education Code, TX Administrative Code, and FERPA).

Effective communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; ability to write reports and actively listen while maintaining confidentiality.

Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to take appropriate actions in difficult situations.

Ensures a high level of cooperation, coordination, timeliness, accuracy, and compliance within the division.

Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks to achieve goals in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong customer service mentality and eagerness to deliver on internal/external customer requirements.

A desire to self‑reflect, give/receive feedback, and continuously improve.

Willingness to work as a contributing member of a team and foster positive working relationships with executive leadership and other stakeholders.

Experience working within a Local Education Agency (LEA) or Education Service Center (ESC) strongly preferred.
