Figure
Figure is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots. The goal of the company is to ship humanoid robots with human level intelligence. Its robots are engineered to perform a variety of tasks in the home and commercial markets. Figure is based in San Jose, CA and require 5 days/week in-office collaboration.
We are seeking a
Validation Engineer
to develop and execute validation and testing for critical electrical subsystems, including Compute, Power Distribution, Charging, and Battery Management. This highly technical role spans benchtop validation, early integration, and system-level verification to ensure subsystem performance, reliability, and compliance before deployment in the humanoid robot.
You will work closely with design, firmware, and systems integration engineers to plan, execute, and automate validation workflows from first article bring-up through full-robot readiness. Success in this role requires a hands‑on approach, strong electrical fundamentals, and the ability to turn test data into actionable design feedback.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute
bench-top validation plans
for electrical and mechatronic subsystems.
Design and implement
test setups and interfaces , including PCBA fixtures, instrumentation, and automation scripts.
Plan and oversee
subsystem validation
through the integration stages — from prototype hardware to full robot operation.
Perform
data-driven testing
for power, communication, and thermal performance across compute and power systems.
Conduct
failure analysis
to identify root causes, define corrective actions, and verify fixes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, firmware, systems integration, and test) to align validation with robot-level requirements.
Maintain
comprehensive documentation
of validation test plans, procedures, and results to support traceability and scaling.
Develop
automation frameworks and scripts in Python
to streamline validation, data collection, and analysis.
Support
design-for-testability and manufacturability
efforts through feedback loops and test standardization.
Requirements
3–5 years of hands-on experience validating
complex electrical or power systems
in production or R&D hardware.
Strong understanding of
electrical principles, circuits, and system-level power distribution .
Proficiency in
Python
for test automation, data logging, and analysis.
Hands-on experience with
lab instrumentation
(oscilloscopes, multimeters, PSUs, DAQs, power analyzers).
Demonstrated ability to
design and implement test setups , including fixture design and measurement planning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working across multiple engineering domains.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with
compliance/EMC testing
and mitigation.
Familiarity with
robotics, mechatronic, or humanoid systems .
Experience with
firmware validation , scripting, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Leadership experience driving validation projects or managing test infrastructure.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $130,000 and $250,000 annually.
The pay offered for this position may vary based on several individual factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include additional components/benefits depending on the specific role. This information will be shared if an employment offer is extended.
