Director of the Center for Research & Data

leads the Chambers efforts to deliver trusted, actionable insights that inform business and civic decision?making in the Cincinnati region. This role is responsible for producing high?quality research and analysis, engaging members and community partners with data?driven storytelling and advancing a shared regional agenda through measurement and goal setting. The ideal candidate is a hands?on and experienced data analyst, a strategic thinker, and strong communicator, with background in research design, and production. They are motivated by impact, comfortable managing multiple complex projects, and adept at building relationships across business, civic, and government sectors. The Director reports directly to the Vice President of Civic Strategy & Policy and works closely with the VP to align the Centers research agenda with the Chambers broader civic strategy, policy priorities, and regional initiatives. Responsibilities Research Analysis Plan, manage, and conduct approximately 510 research reports annually for the Chamber and external clients. Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the Regional Indicators Dashboard to provide timely, accessible data to members and the public. Ensure research meets high standards of accuracy, clarity, and relevance for business and public sector audiences.

Engagement & Events

Translate complex data into compelling presentations, briefings, and publications for diverse audiences. Serve as a spokesperson and thought leader for the Chamber on regional data trends. Support the production of annual events that showcase the Centers work and connect leaders around key findings.

Revenue Generation & Partnerships

Cultivate sponsorships, consulting opportunities, and Investor Circle relationships to sustain and grow the Centers work. Collaborate with Chamber teams to align research with organizational goals and member priorities. Manage client engagements, ensuring high?quality deliverables that meet partner needs. In partnership with the Vice President, support internal budget management.

Strategic Leadership

Collaborate with Vice President to set and drive the vision, strategy and growth of the Center for Research & Data in support of overall Chamber goals. Lead a portfolio of core projects, including the State of the Region, Regional Indicators Dashboard and other flagship research initiatives. Work in partnership with key stakeholders and civic groups to align around measurable community goals for the region.

Core Data Competencies Data Sources & Management

Proficiency with national and regional datasets such as U.S. Census, American Community Survey (ACS), Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), and proprietary tools like Lightcast. Ability to integrate local government, nonprofit, and regional datasets into cohesive analyses.

Analysis & Visualization

Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, with experience assessing and communicating economic and demographic trends that shape regional competitiveness. Proficiency with visualization tools (e.g., DataWrapper, IBMM, SPSS, GIS, etc.) to present findings clearly and effectively.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position directly manages 12 staff members and may oversee fellows or contractors as needed. It also works cross?functionally with other Chamber teams and external partners. Qualifications and Experience

Bachelors degree in economics, public policy, data analytics, business, or related field required; Masters degree preferred. 5+ years of professional experience in research, data analysis, public policy, consulting, or a related industry.

Demonstrated ability to produce high?quality research and communicate findings to varied audiences. Familiarity with regional economic development, public policy issues, and cross?sector collaboration.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills. Proficiency with data visualization and analysis tools. Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines. Strong understanding of how data informs strategy, policy, and business decisions.

Work Environment

This position is located in a climate?controlled downtown office site and requires a minimal amount of external activity. The job will require talking, listening, researching, and sitting for long periods working at a computer screen. This position does not require travel. Requirements include some evenings and weekends, flexible work week available to accommodate these instances. Our Culture
