Job Summary
Sr. Specialist ASIC/FPGA Senior Design Engineer – Herndon, VA (on-site)
Schedule: 9/80 Regular. Position reports to Manager, Engineering (ASIC/FPGA). This role focuses on leading the design, implementation and verification of FPGA and ASIC solutions for high‑speed cryptographic applications.
Responsibilities
Derive engineering specifications from system requirements and develop detailed architecture.
Plan and execute RTL/HLS design, and ensure RTL quality through CDC, RDC, formal verification and linting.
Generate test plans and perform module-level verification, synthesis, STA, and lab debugging on Linux-based SoC evaluation boards.
Lead silicon/FPGA bring‑up, characterization, and production ramp/support collateral.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, minimum 6 years of experience, or Master’s degree plus 4 years of experience in high‑performance communications/network ASIC/FPGA design.
Active SECRET clearance (required).
Experience mapping Ethernet, TCP/IP, AXI to hardware and understanding architecture/system trade‑offs.
Proficiency in VHDL design and FPGA flow.
Strong logic/board debugging and analytical skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Preferred Additional Skills
Prior experience in aerospace/defense sector.
Experience with C++ (OOP).
Experience with Xilinx MPSOC design, SDKs, BSPs on bare metal/PetaLinux.
Experience with High‑Level Synthesis (Vivado HLS or Mentor Calypto).
Experience with Universal Verification Methodology (UVM).
Project leadership and experience with EVM.
