Assistant of Head of School for Academics
The Assistant Head of School for Academics is a leadership position that spans all levels of the school (grades 6‑12) and all curricular and programmatic areas. The role ensures academic integrity, mentors teachers, supports students’ academic wellbeing and achievement, and serves as a resource for parents. Applicants should blend deep instructional and curricular pedagogical knowledge with a commitment to the founder’s vision and to integrating faith, culture, ethics, and spirituality into teaching.
The Tom Johnson Boys Academy is a faith‑based institution committed to nurturing the spiritual, moral, and academic growth of its students. The Assistant Head of School is expected to uphold and integrate the academy’s faith‑centered mission throughout curriculum, co‑curricular programs, and daily operations, while reinforcing its moral and ethical framework in teaching, leadership, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
Maintains alignment between the School’s mission and all academic programming.
Supervises curriculum integrity, alignment, and articulation across all levels of the school.
Serves as the academic advisor to the Head of School on curriculum, academic programming, and personnel matters.
Meets regularly with faculty as a group and individually to support best practices in curriculum and instructional pedagogy.
Directs and coordinates professional development, coaching teachers through implementation of best practices.
Leads, develops, and manages meetings, task forces, and other programming related to the job.
Co‑ordinates development and fundraising activities and works with the Development Office on foundation‑related grant applications and execution.
Act as an educational catalyst for institutional and educational best practices.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
