Position Summary Senior Data Scientist – Finance Analytics, Automation & AI (AAA) at The Home Depot.

Base Pay Range $60,000.00/yr - $160,000.00/yr

Position Purpose The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for driving data science initiatives that deliver business profitability and increased efficiencies for the Finance and Accounting organization. This role applies advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to develop innovative solutions that inform financial decision‑making and enable automation. The position requires proficiency in one or more data science specializations, such as time‑series forecasting, optimization, or statistical modeling. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will serve as the technical lead on specific data science projects, collaborating with project managers and business partners to prioritize tasks, balance workloads, and mentor more junior data scientists. You are expected to present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership, clearly explaining the business benefits and impacts of proposed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Development – Design and develop algorithms and models to leverage large datasets, generate business insights, and communicate recommendations to technical and non‑technical audiences. Prepare reports, updates, and presentations on progress.

Project Management & Team Support – Work with project teams and business partners to set project goals, prioritize work, mentor junior team members, and support recruiting and hiring efforts.

Business Collaboration – Leverage deep business knowledge to develop trust and collaboration with internal customers and cross‑functional teams. Provide education on advanced analytics and identify new business opportunities.

Technical Exploration & Development – Expand knowledge of key developments, participate in continuous improvement, and contribute to reusable solutions and best practices.

Direct Manager / Direct Reports Reports to manager or above; has no direct reports.

Travel Requirements

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

Most of the time seated in a comfortable position with occasional movement. Rarely requires lifting light items.

Working Conditions

Located in a comfortable indoor area; conditions are infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.).

5‑7 years of experience in a data science role with end‑to‑end model development and deployment.

Proficiency in predictive modeling, data mining, prescriptive modeling, and statistical techniques.

Specialized skills in optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search, or NLP.

Proficiency with data visualization software (preferably Tableau).

Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform and machine learning services.

Domain knowledge in finance or accounting data, understanding of SAP and related systems.

Excellent communication skills to translate complex technical findings into clear business recommendations.

Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Preferred Education No additional education required.

Minimum Years of Experience 5 years.
