Huntington National Bank provides an exceptional opportunity for a talented lawyer to join its dynamic and growing Legal Department. The role supports the Consumer Finance group in indirect financing for automobiles, recreational vehicles, marine and related equipment through dealership partners.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, proactive, and practical legal advice to business lines in a highly regulated banking environment.

Interpret laws, regulations, and guidance applicable to indirect lending, including ECOA, Reg. B, FCRA, SCRA, TILA, UCC, UCCC, UDAAP, E‑Sign, FDCPA, state debt‑collection laws, and other relevant statutes.

Monitor federal and state legal developments and communicate changes to Consumer Finance.

Collaborate with Consumer Finance, technology, operations, marketing, communications, compliance, and risk to develop and launch new products and services.

Draft, review, and revise customer agreements, disclosures, forms, and letters.

Support and guide Consumer Finance in identifying, analyzing, mitigating, and managing legal, operational, compliance, and reputational risks.

Provide counsel on business strategy implementation.

Manage multiple assignments in a deadline‑intensive environment.

Assist with regulatory examinations and other reviews of Huntington Vehicle Finance.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate; attorney eligible to be licensed in the state where the job is located or admitted into any applicable state.

Five or more years of experience in an in‑house legal department of a financial institution, a bank regulatory agency, or a law firm focused on consumer financial services.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive knowledge of federal and state lending, servicing, and collection laws related to indirect lending through dealerships.

Knowledge of powersports, outdoor power equipment, or maker incentives beneficial.

Ability to handle complex legal issues with limited supervision while seeking guidance on highly complex matters.

Strong leadership, advocacy, negotiation, research, and organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach.

Proven ability to balance legal risk with business objectives and make innovative decisions quickly.

Self‑starter with a growth mindset, rigorous attention to detail, and a passion for learning.

Compensation Range $93,000–$189,000 annually (base salary). Applicants may be eligible for incentive compensation.

Workplace Type Office (hybrid possible).
