Hardware Specialist Internship

Our North American Commercial Operations, as well as our Headquarters and Technology Center for Hemostasis and Acute Care Diagnostics, are based in Bedford, MA. Our Headquarters and Technology Center for Autoimmunity Diagnostics is based in San Diego, CA. Additionally, our Technology Center for Hemostasis and Blood Gas Reagents is in Orangeburg, NY, and our Technology Center for Whole Blood Hemostasis is in San Diego, CA.
Summary The purpose of the cooperative experience is to provide a semester‑long hands‑on experience. Werfen hires students with leadership potential and proven academic success. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem‑solving abilities.
Responsibilities
Perform hands‑on lab prototyping and assembly in both a collaborative and independent environment.
Work with a team developing concepts for new product development. Communicate information that will be used for design decisions and process optimization, as well as new test methods.
Lead and influence at various levels and functions of the organization through strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Conduct desk research and competitive intelligence, distilling vast amounts of data into concise summaries focused on the key strategic and financial implications to the organization.
Essential Functions
Construct prototype optical imaging systems and analyze image data from the prototype.
Apply concepts from machine vision to image analysis and communicate results to a larger team.
Desire to conduct hands‑on laboratory work and curiosity to learn new skills at the interface between hardware and software engineering. Interested in applying engineering principles to the medical technology space.
Qualifications Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
Currently pursuing a B.S. in Engineering, Finance, Business, Marketing with at least 2 college semesters completed.
Ability to multitask.
