We have an opening for a

Deputy/Lead DevOps Lead Engineer

in the Tactical Space organization. The position is located in Dulles, VA and requires a Top Secret clearance to start. The role is performed in a SCIF environment; onsite work is required.

Job Responsibilities

Automate cloud‑native technologies, deploy applications, and provision critical infrastructure.

Work with microservices and distributed application architecture, such as containers, Kubernetes, and/or serverless technology.

Work within the OpenStack cloud ecosystem to configure and deploy optimized infrastructure.

Ensure monitoring and health of the resources deployed via Nagios or other enterprise management solutions.

Document procedures used during deployment cycles.

Use operational monitoring tools effectively.

Collaborate with the DevOps team, mentoring cross‑training and troubleshooting activities.

Implement clean, maintainable infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform and other industry best practices.

To be Successful in This Role You Should Have:

Excel in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities and quick deadlines.

Strong troubleshooting skills and readiness to tackle unfamiliar challenges.

5+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, and Ansible.

Over 5 years of experience with Linux tools/automation, shell scripting, and Python programming.

2+ years of AWS experience.

3+ years of managing OpenStack environments.

5+ years of experience with Docker containerization; Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration preferred.

Extensive experience (5+ years) with continuous integration/deployment tools like Jenkins or GitLab.

Proven ability to create, execute, and troubleshoot complex automated processes for server configuration and code deployment (5+ years).

Demonstrated leadership in DevOps projects.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (ideally Computer Science or Engineering) and 8 years of experience; OR a master’s degree and 6 years; OR a PhD and 4 years. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

5+ years of DevOps or software development experience (general IT experience alone is not sufficient).

5+ years in a technical leadership role managing technical objectives and Jira metrics reporting.

Experience with adjacent technologies such as AWS, Ansible, Kubernetes, Oracle Cloud, and OpenShift is welcomed.

U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Top‑Secret clearance at the time of application.
