Responsibilities Resident Services
Develop and implement the highest standards for assisted living services
Work directly with residents to evaluate needs and services
Conduct and assist with electronic evaluation of incoming residents, and periodic re‑evaluation to ensure services rendered are documented and charged according to policy
Implement services during new resident move‑in; help residents with orientation and adjustment to the community
Provide direct care to residents as needed according to identified service needs
Accurately assess, communicate, and document resident status; observe and report significant changes in behavior and health to the GM, physician, and family per state regulations
Conduct regular meetings with residents and families to ensure needs are met
Communicate with resident family members, physicians, and pharmacists regarding resident services
Ensure all Resident Rights and Responsibilities are protected and enforced; prevent elder abuse and report violations per state regulations
Address difficult resident behaviors with dignity and respect
Ensure compliance with all State Rules and Regulations of assisted living
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities to team members
Challenge and inspire team members to achieve results
Evaluate team members’ skills and competencies; ensure completion of performance reviews
Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance
Oversee training and development of all AL staff; ensure certification and training requirements are met
Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to achieve employee engagement and customer delight
Mentor team members using the electronic care system
Build effective teams by determining adequate staffing levels and recruiting top talent
Prepare staffing schedules to meet community standards of care
Administration
Adhere to budgetary guidelines established by Merrill Gardens
Coordinate with the General Manager for financial stability of the assisted living department from census development and expense control
Provide weekly status reports on all AL residents to the GM
Maintain all resident records and department documentation
Comply with state‑mandated reporting requirements
Audit AL services for regulatory compliance
Provide additional management reports as required
Qualifications Education
Current LPN/LVN or RN licensure, as specified by state agency
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire where required by state
Completion of dementia training within six months of hire if applicable
Experience
3 years of related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in assisted living, geriatric nursing, gerontology, and dementia care
Experience in medication administration and hands‑on personal care preferred
Demonstrated ability in budgeting and cost control
Experience operating an electronic care system
Physical Requirements This role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 75 lbs), and assisting with resident care. Regular bending, reaching, and physical movement are required throughout the workday. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
