GAMA-1 Technologies
Overview
GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks an experienced IT Security Engineer III to design, implement, and continuously improve enterprise cybersecurity defenses in a federal telework environment. Responsibilities include developing, tuning, and maintaining intrusion detection and security monitoring capabilities, executing vulnerability scans, creating and testing technical security controls, and supporting remediation following assessments or penetration testing. This role ensures compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, and agency-specific requirements while maintaining situational awareness across enterprise systems.
Responsibilities
Build, configure, and tune Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and SIEM content for near real‑time monitoring and alerting.
Execute credentialed vulnerability and configuration scans using approved federal tools and document results.
Develop, implement, and test technical security controls in alignment with NIST SP 800‑53, FedRAMP, and agency requirements.
Create and maintain scripts or automation tools to streamline evidence collection, log analysis, and compliance reporting.
Collaborate with system owners and administrators to remediate penetration test findings and vulnerability scan results.
Support incident detection and response activities by providing log analysis, event correlation, and root cause insights.
Participate in change management and risk assessment reviews to ensure proposed configurations maintain security posture.
Assist in maintaining security documentation, standard operating procedures, and system security plans (SSPs).
Stay current with evolving cybersecurity threats, technologies, and mitigation techniques.
Information Security and Confidentiality Obligations
Ensure adherence to organizational information security policies and procedures; actively participate in mandatory security awareness training; and manage confidential and sensitive information in accordance with company protocols and data protection standards.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
4–8 years of progressive experience in security engineering or cybersecurity operations within enterprise or federal environments.
Strong technical proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems, including system hardening and security configuration.
Familiarity with FedRAMP, FISMA, and related federal security standards.
Hands‑on experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability scanning tools.
Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for automation or evidence collection.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
SAP HANA exposure or experience supporting secure enterprise applications is desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications as CISSP or GSEC, GIAC GCIA or GCED preferred, Security+ baseline.
Experience working with Splunk, QRadar, Tenable, Nessus, or equivalent enterprise tools.
Familiarity with network security architecture, firewall management, and endpoint protection solutions.
Knowledge of incident response processes, forensic data analysis, and log correlation techniques.
Security Clearance & Eligibility
Candidates must have legally resided in the United States for three of the past five years, worked for the U.S. Government or military overseas, or been a dependent of a U.S. Government or military employee serving overseas. Non‑U.S. citizens must be from an allied nation as defined by the Office of Personnel Management. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigations and required clearances.
Work Environment
This work will be performed primarily in a telework environment, with on‑site duties required one day per week.
Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organizations and client facilities.
Travel Required Yes, travel to client site in Washington, DC.
Proficiency Requirement The employee must demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions, tools, and processes related to this position within the first 90 days of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in additional training, reassessment, or other actions as deemed necessary by management.
Benefits & Compensation The base salary range for this position is $137,817 – $166,045. The range is based on factors such as role scope, government contract, geographic location, and relevant experience.
