University of Virginia School of Medicine - Academic Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Virginia is seeking candidates for a tenure‑eligible Assistant Professor position to start September 2025 or 2026. This clinical faculty position is responsible for providing exceptional patient care in the management of orthopaedic hip pathology with a strong commitment to musculoskeletal research. Candidates must have demonstrated clinical expertise and the ability to perform quality basic scientific or clinical research. The position will remain open until filled.

The role includes building a hip preservation practice for patients from newborns to adults, collaborating with hip arthroscopists and the adult reconstruction division, and performing both inpatient and outpatient surgeries at the UVA Health System. The candidate will join orthopaedic faculty who share emergency orthopaedic call coverage at a Level 1 quaternary care trauma center and will also join the call pools for pediatric orthopaedic patients.

Qualifications

Education: MD and board‑eligible or board‑certified; fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery with exposure to hip preservation and evidence of academic productivity.

Experience: Demonstrated clinical expertise and ability to conduct quality basic scientific or clinical research.

Licensure: Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Virginia and board‑eligible or board‑certified.
