Overview
Physician- Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Hospitalist Nocturnist role at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The position involves inpatient nocturnal care in the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center with 13 hours of inpatient coverage per day, seven days a week, totaling 114 shifts/year. Location: Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Qualified candidates should be Board Certified/Eligible Pediatricians, with preference for Hematology/Oncology training/experience. Job Description
To plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center. The nocturnists care for hematology/oncology patients during the night, including patients receiving chemotherapy. They work collaboratively with residents and other specialists to admit patients requiring hematology/oncology care, take nurse calls, and provide after-hours expertise in managing complex illnesses in pediatric cancer and blood disorders. Responsibilities
Provide patient care within the clinical area compliant with Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations, and Children’s policies and procedures. Participate in and incorporate Quality Improvement and research findings into practice. Provide and/or serve as a resource for patient/family and staff education. Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making. Provide an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintain accurate and complete records. Complete necessary documentation and ensure timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement. Respond to patient and clinical staff questions and requests. Participate in meetings/activities to support operations of the clinical area. Maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and pursue additional specialty training/certifications as required. Perform other responsibilities as required. Qualifications and Requirements
MD, MD/PhD, or DO degree. Board Certification in Pediatrics preferred; Board Eligible acceptable. Must be eligible for licensure as a physician in the State of Georgia. Demonstrated clinical excellence/achievement. Education and Certification
Graduate of an accredited four-year medical school. Graduate of an accredited post-graduate residency program in Pediatrics. Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatrics. Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia. BLS or PALS certification required; Current DEA registration. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Effective communication with patients and families and as a team member. Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
