Piper Companies is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead its software engineering function, overseeing both modern .NET applications and legacy PowerBuilder systems.
This role is pivotal in driving modernization while ensuring system stability and aligning development efforts with business goals. Responsibilities
Lead and mentor software development teams across .NET and PowerBuilder platforms. Drive strategic planning, project delivery, and modernization initiatives. Oversee architecture, coding standards, DevOps, and QA practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions. Ensure timely, high-quality delivery of enterprise-grade software. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (Master’s preferred). 10+ years in software development, including 5+ in leadership. Strong .NET expertise; working knowledge of PowerBuilder. Experience managing full SDLC and balancing legacy support with modernization. Proficiency in DevOps, CI/CD, secure coding, and QA practices. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with modernization (PowerBuilder to .NET/cloud). Familiarity with Azure or AWS. Background in SaaS, HRTech, or Benefits/Payroll systems. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM). Compensation
Salary Range: $150,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year, based on experience and certifications.
