Job Summary The Assistant Director of Advancement Communications plays a vital role in driving fundraising and engagement success by creating and executing strategic, multi‑channel communications that inspire support for the college’s mission. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Advancement and Communications divisions, this position helps craft impactful stories and campaigns that strengthen donor relationships, engage alumni, and elevate the college’s visibility.

Responsibilities

Support Implementation: Execute a comprehensive, multi‑channel communications plan for the Advancement division, inclusive of alumni and family relations, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, stewardship, corporate and foundation relations, and events.

Content Creation and Quality Assurance: Write, proofread, fact‑check, and edit content to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy. Review communications produced by other members of the Advancement division to assure alignment with goals, accuracy, quality, and promotion of inclusive practices.

Segmentation and Personalization: Enhance engagement and outreach initiatives by partnering with colleagues to explore segmentation and personalization opportunities through the various communication channels used by the division.

Project Coordination: Partner with division heads to plan and manage print, web, electronic, and social media materials; coordinate with content developers; and serve as a liaison between the Office of Communications & Marketing and Advancement teams to ensure timely review and approval processes.

Antiracism Initiatives: Contribute to the development and implementation of the Office of Advancement’s antiracism plan and promote inclusion and respect for diversity in campus communications.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with mindfulness to reflect inclusion and respect for diversity and equitable practices throughout content.

Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail.

Proficiency with technology tools, including web CMS, analytics, email marketing platforms, Microsoft applications, and social media management.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and manage confidential and sensitive information.

High degree of integrity and eagerness to engage with students and alumni.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education, alumni relations, fundraising, or donor communications.

Strong knowledge of current trends and best practices in digital and social media for marketing, stewardship, and communications outreach.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range $62,653–$75,183 annually
