About Assets Protection AP teams keep guests, staff, and brand secure by mitigating risks, preventing theft and fraud, and enabling rapid crisis response. They build relationships with store leaders and law enforcement.
Role Overview
Use intelligence‑led tactics to keep guests and team members safe.
Manage crisis response and crowd safety.
Practice de‑escalation and use physical security controls.
Operate Target’s video surveillance system.
Document incidents accurately in the case management system.
Typical Responsibilities
Greet guests and create a welcoming experience.
Maintain a safe physical environment for team members and guests.
Respond to security incidents and document them promptly.
Apply de‑escalation tactics and support threat mitigation.
Conduct merchandise theft recovery and support apprehension.
Perform merchandise receipt checks to prevent theft and shortages.
Submit case documentation per AP policies and procedures.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
Work safely, report hazards, and correct them when possible.
Perform other duties as required by business needs.
Qualifications
At least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position.
Open to a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and other peak shopping times.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and remain focused in a fast‑paced environment.
Physical ability to climb ladders and lift or move merchandise up to 40 pounds.
Willingness to work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
Capability to use handheld scanners and other technology equipment as directed.
