Nurse Manager – Outpatient Ambulatory Services Locations: Burlington, Peabody, and Lexington About the Organization

Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is seeking an innovative and compassionate Nurse Manager to lead operations across several high‑performing Outpatient Ambulatory Divisions. Plastic Surgery: Delivering cutting‑edge reconstructive and cosmetic procedures with a focus on safety, innovation, and exceptional outcomes. Colon & Rectal Surgery: Providing expert, compassionate care for complex colorectal conditions, including cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic floor disorders. General Surgery: Delivering expert care in a broad spectrum of surgical procedures, with dedicated programs in Surgical Weight Loss and Breast Surgery, emphasizing minimally invasive techniques and enhanced recovery. Lifestyle Health: Empowering long‑term wellness through Medical Weight Loss programs, nutrition support & counseling, and integrative health strategies. Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develops, implements, and assures compliance with Nursing Practice Guidelines. Encourages staff participation on Shared Governance Councils, nursing committees, and organization committees. Maintains and displays knowledge of current professional/clinical issues and uses evidence based resources to implement necessary changes in the delivery of nursing care. Collaborates with leadership team to provide opportunities for staff development, including participation in nursing research, certification in nursing field, and professional organizations.

System Coordination

Links departmental strategic goals to organization mission and goals. Analyzes pertinent data to drive day to day performance. Works collaboratively to solve problems, improve processes, and integrate services within the department and with other departments. Supports new ideas and changes within the department by actively participating and contributing. Demonstrates flexibility in meeting demands of the department. Organizes and prioritizes work to meet deadlines. Develops effective communication methods to keep staff and others informed about activities of the organization and department.

Quality Improvement

Proactively develops plans to meet future departmental/organizational needs. Reviews outcome measures and works collaboratively with staff and leadership team to improve patient outcomes, including use of national databases such as NDNQI. Collaborates with multi‑disciplinary teams to comply with regulatory standards and improve patient satisfaction and outcomes.

Human Resource Management

Works collaboratively with the Human Resources Department and Senior Leadership to recruit, hire and retain qualified personnel. Oversees and conducts performance appraisals, recommends compensation adjustments, and ensures licensing and certification for all staff are current. Assures orientation, competence assessment, in‑service training and continuing education for all staff. Encourages creativity, celebrates staff accomplishments, fosters an environment sensitive to diverse needs, and coaches staff by removing barriers and addressing issues.

Budgetary Responsibilities

Participates in development of annual departmental budgets. Develops and implements cost‑effective staffing patterns. Monitors budget, prepares variance reports, and manages expenses to identify areas of potential cost savings.

Professional Growth/Self Improvement

Pursues self‑awareness, seeks feedback, accepts constructive criticism, and modifies behavior accordingly. Engages in professional development activities such as education and participation in professional associations. Maintains necessary continuing education requirements for license, certifications, and enhancements. Supports Lahey Clinics commitment to community based activities within the Lahey community and beyond.

Organizational Requirements

Incorporates LHMC Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities. Complies with all LHMC Policies and behavioral expectations of the department and LHMC. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities, mandatory education, and performs all other duties as needed or directed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of a state‑approved or accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

Licensure, Certification, Registration

Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Life Support Certification: BLS.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Demonstrates necessary clinical competence in area of nursing practice. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and basic computer skills. Experience: Minimum five years of accumulated in‑patient nursing experience and two years leadership experience.

Pay Range

$165,000.00 USD - $215,000.00 USD. The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, including seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, and other applicable factors permissible by law.
