Overview
Shell Energy North America is seeking a senior level individual to lead short‑term power fundamental analysis with a focus on Northeast Markets (PJM, NYISO, and New England ISO). The role supports Shell Energy North America with deep analysis of short‑ and mid‑term drivers of transmission, regulation, supply and demand, and prices, building credibility with internal customers so that forward‑looking insights translate into commercial gain primarily in the Trading business function.
What You’ll Be Doing
Use fundamental analysis techniques to support trading and origination decisions.
Research and understand the fundamental drivers related to supply, demand, and transmission in the context of short‑ and mid‑term modeling, focusing on developing forward pricing views.
Monitor market developments, market design, and regulatory issues that could impact prices.
Maintain and perform models capable of zonal and nodal market simulations.
Collaborate with other natural gas and power analysts.
What We Need From You
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or Econometrics (Master’s/Ph.D. preferred).
5+ years of experience in power fundamentals within an energy trading environment.
5+ years of experience with at least one of UPlan, ProMod, PowerWorld, or Aurora.
Demonstrated understanding of power fundamentals.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across teams.
Exceptional written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Ability to filter multiple perspectives for commercially actionable intelligence.
Comfort with technology‑based research and managing multiple high‑priority tasks.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
What We Offer Base salary range: $174,000 – $262,000 per year, with compensation based on experience, education, and internal equity. Eligible benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, business travel accident insurance, occupational accidental death benefit, pension plan, and 401(k). Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks vacation, 11 holidays, and parental leave (16 weeks for birthing parents, 8 weeks for non‑birthing parents).
