Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas has served North County’s coastal communities since 1978. We’re located at Santa Fe Drive and I-5, within walking distance of a park, fitness center, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants.
Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas’ campus includes Scripps Clinic Encinitas and an outpatient imaging center. We’re home to notable specialty programs including a 24-hour emergency room, accredited stroke care, physical rehabilitation services (including a brain injury day treatment program), our Baby Friendly birthing pavilion and a Level II neonatal intensive care unit.
This is a Casual/Per-Diem DAY shift position working 8-hour shifts on variable days of the week, including weekends and holidays.
Position is located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.

We invite you to join our Maternal Child Health team as a Lactation Specialist.
Responsibilities
Identify the need for and complete a lactation evaluation of assigned inpatients with lactation problems or concerns.
Develop and implement an evidence-based plan of care and demonstrate the ability to communicate data pertinent to the patient's health/situation.
Demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to evaluate patient’s progress, assist the family through the continuum of care and provide appropriate discharge education.
Keep accurate and complete documentation in the medical record on findings and care provided.
Work collaboratively with the Lactation Consultant(s) and other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care.
Demonstrate ability to perform all required competencies.
Demonstrate age-specific care as established for area and job title.
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification
BS in related field.
Previous lactation support experience in Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby Couplet Care and/or NICU.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills
Completion of a valid certificated Lactation Program.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to demonstrate positive behavior.
Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
Required Certification/Registration
Current BLS for Health Care Provider from American Heart Association.
Current IBCLC certification.
Position Pay Range: $32.11-$46.62/hour
