Role The Billing Manager is responsible for managing the law firm’s billing processes, ensuring accurate and efficient preparation, distribution, and collection of client invoices. This role involves coordinating with attorneys and staff, maintaining billing systems, and ensuring compliance with firm policies and client agreements.
Responsibilities
Supervise billing coordinators or clerks, delegating tasks and ensuring team efficiency.
Provide training and mentorship to junior billing staff.
Oversee the preparation, review, and distribution of client invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client billing guidelines.
Generate pre‑bills, review time entries, and coordinate with attorneys to finalize invoices.
Ensure timely delivery of invoices via mail, email, or electronic billing platforms.
Manage billing software (SurePoint) and ensure data integrity in billing systems.
Train attorneys and staff on timekeeping and billing best practices.
Qualifications
4+ years of legal billing management experience.
Law firm billing experience is required.
Strong understanding of legal billing practices, including hourly, contingency, and flat‑fee structures.
Proficiency in billing and accounting software.
Working Situation
Hybrid
Base Salary: $150–180k+, commensurate with experience.
Additional Compensation: Annual performance‑based bonus.
