Technical Writing Non-Tenure Track Faculty (Applicant Pool) – MSU English Department maintains a pool of non-tenure-track applicants for potential instruction in writing courses. Applications are accepted on a continual basis and retained in the pool for up to two years. Position Information

Announcement Number FAC - VA - 24107 Appointment Type: Contract Term (Semester). Semester options include Fall or Spring. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught. FTE varies. Benefits eligibility depends on FTE. Open recruitment type: Open. Responsibilities

Typically, instructors teach WRIT 221 - Technical Writing. Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration (a couple weeks, a semester, or an academic year) depending on departmental needs and available funding. Instructors are expected to teach professionally and effectively, contributing to student success and the university mission. Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

A master’s degree in English, Professional or Technical Writing, or a closely-related field Successful experience teaching writing, especially technical or professional writing Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Degree focus and teaching experience in Technical Writing Professional experience as a technical writer Commitment to supporting, promoting, and building an inclusive and culturally diverse campus environment The Successful Candidate Will

Demonstrate a commitment to teaching toward program-wide student learning outcomes Bring innovative, real-world technical writing genres to classroom practices Participate in faculty development activities in support of best-practice based instruction Maintain confidentiality of records and information Teach in a diverse university community and assist students from diverse backgrounds to succeed Position Details
