Liturgical Ministries Coordinator (part-time)

Responsible for facilitating the worship life of the parish community by coordinating the ministries associated with it and ensuring that liturgies fulfill their God-given purpose for the benefit of God’s people through orderly and dignified celebrations, which strengthen the Catholic faith at St. Paul the Apostle.
Qualifications
Fervent disciple of Christ, member in good standing of the Catholic Church.
Knowledge of the related rites of the Roman liturgy (e.g. Roman Missal, Lectionary, Eucharistic Worship outside Mass, etc.) and experience necessary to perform basic liturgical coordination responsibilities.
Familiarity with parish life and parish operations.
Ability to work with a variety of constituents, including priests, deacons, lay adults and children, both parish staff and volunteers.
Excellent communication, phone, interpersonal skills.
Strong recruiting skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
Accountability
The Liturgical Ministries Coordinator reports directly to the pastor and works closely with the parish manager and clergy at the parish. Attendance is expected at liturgical planning meetings (ordinarily on a quarterly basis) as well as occasional staff meetings. Performance reviews will be conducted in accordance with diocesan and parish guidelines.
The Liturgical Coordinator position averages less than 10 hours per week, with additional hours and availability required during peak liturgical seasons and special events. Availability for occasional evenings and weekends is also expected (Triduum, Corpus Christi, etc), to be determined on a quarterly basis.
Specific Responsibilities:
The particular responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Recruit, train and oversee the schedule for all adult liturgical ministers: Readers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, Greeters and Sacristans; assists the Deacon with scheduling Altar Servers.
Plans, schedules and executes training opportunities .
Plan, execute and continuously update guidelines and procedures for Readers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Greeters, Ushers and Sacristans. Collaborates with the Deacon, if need be, in regard to guidelines and procedures for Altar Servers and Masters of Ceremonies.
Manage and oversee all special liturgies and sacramental occasions, such as, but not limited to, Advent/Christmas, Lent/Holy Week/Easter, All Saints, All Souls, Divine Mercy Sunday, Immaculate Conception, Mary, Mother of God, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, Corpus Christi, etc.
Occasionally attend daily and weekend Masses at the parish, Feast Days and Solemnities to observe ministers and the flow of the liturgy.
Manage and oversee the Liturgical Environment Ministry that is responsible for decorating the church according to the liturgical seasons and on special occasions such as Solemnities and Feast Days significant to our community.
Meet with the pastor on a regular basis for direction and feedback on the liturgy.
Administer and implement changes as they relate to the Roman Missal, diocesan Office for Worship, and Pastor’s decisions.
Review Universal Prayer for all weekend, Feast Day and Solemnity Masses.
Oversee the sacristy and make sure it is well furnished with the necessary liturgical or devotional supplies for the church and all items connected to liturgical functions. Order supplies as necessary and coordinate volunteers to assist with the smooth operation of the sacristy.
Oversee and help coordinate special liturgical and devotional events, including, but not limited to Corpus Christi procession, Parish-wide Reconciliation services, Lenten Stations of the Cross, Wednesday Adoration Nights, May Crowning, Rosary, etc.
Assist in the coordination of safety and security policies as related to the Liturgy.
Stay abreast of developments in liturgical practice, diocesan policies and guidelines, as directed by the Pastor.
