MercyOne invites applications for the role of Gastroenterologist at its MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center, located at 3421 West 9th Street, Waterloo, IA 50702.

Job Duties
Diagnose and treat GI disorders, including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and other digestive issues.
Provide advice and support on diet and nutrition changes and refer patients to dietitians as needed.
Perform investigative endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopies, sigmoidoscopies, upper endoscopies, duodenoscopies, gastroscopies, and barium swallows.
Prescribe medication to treat digestive disorders and perform surgery to remove abnormalities in the colon or rectum.
Order and evaluate diagnostic tests (blood tests, stool sample tests) to determine the cause of patients’ symptoms.
Refer patients to other medical professionals and specialists if further diagnostic testing or treatment is required.
Educate patients and family members about the diagnosis and treatment process.
Maintain accurate and detailed patient medical records.
Required Minimum Position Qualifications
Doctorate in Medicine, Osteopathy, or foreign equivalent.
Applicant Must Also Have
Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Iowa.
Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Internal Medicine.
Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited fellowship in gastroenterology.
