Psychiatrist
– Project Renewal
Agency Overview Project Renewal is one of the largest social service agencies in New York City, operating Federal Qualified Health Centers and Article 28 Diagnostic and Treatment Centers, plus OASAS‑licensed sites and mobile health units. Services are trauma‑ and harm‑reduction informed, delivered at low or no cost, and designed to address severe mental illness, co‑occurring substance use disorders, and chronic medical conditions.
Title Psychiatrist
Salary $185,000 – $200,000
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide psychiatric evaluations for individuals referred for assessment of psychiatric conditions or entitlement and housing programs.
Deliver psychiatric follow‑up care, including psychopharmacology and supportive psychotherapy.
Administer crisis intervention and assessment as needed.
Coordinate medication administration with embedded nursing staff.
Serve as liaison to outside psychiatric and medical providers as appropriate.
Maintain documentation in compliance with agency policies and procedures.
Participate in weekly clinical team meetings and provide case consultation to interdisciplinary staff.
Attend bimonthly group supervision and Healthcare Department meetings.
Engage in telepsychiatry education and training as required.
Contribute to agency quality assurance processes per Medical Director’s guidance.
May provide supervision of medical students or residents when directed by the Medical Director of Psychiatric Services.
Average patient volume: 7–10 per day, enabling focused patient care.
No weekend coverage required.
Qualifications
New York State Medical License and Registration.
Board certification in Psychiatry.
Preferred to have experience working with homeless populations.
Buprenorphine waiver preferred.
Excellent oral, written, and listening skills.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
