Senior Cyber Lead Engineer

As part of the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test effort, you will lead a systems engineering team defining the next generation of space communication systems supporting the U.S. Space Force. You will work with cross‑functional stakeholders, lead technical discussions, resolve risk and requirements gaps, develop briefings, and author meeting minutes.

Key Responsibilities
Proposing, coordinating, implementing, and enforcing all Department of the Air Force information system security policies, standards, and methodologies.
Understanding of vulnerability assessments using ACAS, DISA STIG and SCAP Compliance Checker, incorporating automated benchmarks in support of an RMF Operative decision.
Reviewing security control continuous monitoring, security audits, risk analysis and developing mitigation strategies for DoD information systems.
Ensuring software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines.
During system development, recommending protective or corrective measures in coordination with the ISSM when a vulnerability is discovered.
During system development advise acquisition program leadership on RMF process and artifacts required to obtain an ATO.
Coordinate activities of cyber security staff to support program cyber security requirements and generate artifacts to obtain a system ATO.
Recommend exceptions, deviations, or waivers to cybersecurity requirements.
Prepare certification letters, MoA, ATC packages, SIA, and Security Impact Assessments for system owners.
Support SSC program offices with ensuring security, quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of ATO RMF documentation.
Support security control assessor (SCA) and STIG curated to DoD/DAF/USSF baselines, audit standards, and POAM.
Attend cleared expert threat briefings; oversee security program design, incident response plans, and cyber risk assessments.
Complete and maintain required cybersecurity certification in accordance with AFMAN 17‑1303.

Qualifications Required Skills and Experience
Hold and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
BA or BS degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, network or telecommunications.
25+ years of work experience in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity.
25+ years of experience leading teams in a dynamic fast‑paced environment.
15 years of experience in a military organization cybersecurity role.
5 years of experience writing measurable cyber security system requirements.
5+ years experience in a military system program office fielding new capabilities.
Cybersecurity certification (IAM Level III) in accordance with DoD 8570.01‑M guidance.
Experience creating and reviewing artifacts in support of NIST SP 800‑37 RMF.
Senior developer or reviewer of system security plans and associated artifacts.
Experience identifying NIAP certified technologies and DISA APL.
Preferred Skills And Experience
Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering with emphasis in Cyber Security.
25+ years of work experience in Cyber Security.
15+ years of experience in System Engineering Architecture/Design.
Previous experience supporting military satellite communications programs such as Milstar, AEHF, GPS, SMART‑T.
Security Test and Evaluation (ST&E).
TS/SCI Clearance.
Basic Compensation $195,000‑$244,000 in California. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
