Description
The Swift Compiler Team at Apple is a unique opportunity to evolve the Swift programming language and related developer tools that shape the experience of writing Swift code. We are looking for a software engineering manager passionate about programming languages, compilers, and the developer experience. We are a fast paced and collaborative group working to improve the Swift language and compiler, and the compiler technology that provides Swift language support to IDEs and editors. Responsibilities
As an engineer, you will design and implement new language features and tooling improvements. You will see your work through all stages of development, from the initial design all the way through to the testing, integration, and adoption of your changes into the development ecosystem. You’ll join energetic discussions on your collaborators’ work and ideas, both within the team and through the open source Swift project. As a manager, you will foster the growth, productivity, and well-being of your team—some more experienced and some less experienced than you—through the highs and lows of the development process. You will be responsible for project planning, inter-team coordination, navigating the open source project, and the ultimate delivery of your team’s engineering work. You’ll take an active role in hiring to help grow a world-class and diverse Swift team. To be effective, you’ll need to forge and maintain strong relationships with numerous partner teams and the open source community. Minimum Qualifications
Experience working on compilers, frameworks, or other developer tools. Experience with software design and programming in a statically-typed language such as (but not limited to) C++ or Swift. Enthusiasm for both technical leadership and people leadership. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the Swift programming language. People management and/or technical leadership. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $198,300 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You’ll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation. Learn more about Apple Benefits. Note: Apple benefit, compensation and employee stock programs are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms of the applicable plan or program. Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
