Job Description We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Product leader to help us build the next set of innovative products for the news brands within Versant, the new spinoff from NBCUniversal. This is an exciting time to join a newly created product and tech unit that will support the ambitious digital goals of CNBC, MSNBC, and E! Online.
Define the product vision and multi‑year roadmap for MSNBC’s digital platforms.
Lead the development and optimization of products across web, app, and streaming environments.
Partner with editorial leadership to align digital tools with newsroom needs and real‑time publishing demands.
Drive audience engagement through personalization, notifications, and cross‑platform user journeys.
Collaborate with Design and UX to create intuitive interfaces that reflect MSNBC’s brand identity and journalistic authority.
Work with Engineering to prioritize features, manage releases, and ensure scalability across systems.
Oversee analytics and data integrations to inform product decisions and optimize performance.
Manage and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and innovation.
Align product strategies with monetization, subscription, and audience growth goals.
Define and track KPIs for engagement, performance, and newsroom efficiency.
Stay ahead of digital media trends, competitive insights, and emerging technologies shaping the future of news consumption.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of product management experience, including 3+ years leading teams in digital media or streaming environments.
Proven success developing consumer‑facing products that drive audience engagement and revenue growth.
Strong understanding of newsroom workflows, publishing systems, and video streaming technologies.
Experience working cross‑functionally with editorial, engineering, and design teams in an agile environment.
Data‑driven decision‑maker with deep experience using analytics to inform product strategy.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
Desired Qualifications
Experience within a large media organization or multi‑brand digital ecosystem.
Familiarity with enterprise CMS systems.
Understanding of personalization, AI‑driven content delivery, and recommendation systems.
Background in OTT, connected‑TV, or cross‑platform video product design.
Knowledge of accessibility standards, SEO, and audience retention best practices.
Passion for journalism and the evolving role of digital news in public discourse.
Bachelor’s degree desired; MBA a plus.
Benefits This position is eligible for company‑sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $160,000–$215,000 (bonus and long‑term incentive eligible).
