Job Summary The Industrial Engineering Supervisor is responsible for both leading and actively participating in the plant’s industrial engineering activities. This role combines hands‑on process optimization, data analysis, and project execution with leadership of a small technical team. The supervisor works directly on the production floor to identify and implement improvements that increase safety, quality, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness across all manufacturing operations.

Principal Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision

Lead, coach, and develop a small team of industrial engineers and technicians.

Balance direct project work with supervisory responsibilities, setting priorities and assigning daily tasks.

Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support for team members’ development.

Foster a collaborative, hands‑on engineering culture focused on continuous improvement.

Hands‑On Process Improvement

Personally conduct time studies, workflow analyses, and ergonomic assessments.

Design and optimize workstation layouts, material flow, and assembly processes.

Implement and sustain Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, value stream mapping, and line balancing.

Support troubleshooting of process and production issues on the shop floor.

Project Execution

Lead and directly participate in capital improvement projects, equipment installations, and tooling changes.

Prepare cost‑benefit analyses and ROI justifications for proposed changes.

Ensure all project milestones, budgets, and timelines are achieved.

Data & Performance Analysis

Maintain accurate process routings, labor standards, and capacity models.

Collect and analyze data to drive decisions that improve OEE, cycle time, and throughput.

Create and present reports and dashboards to plant management.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to ensure process improvements are effectively implemented.

Provide technical input to support new product launches or engineering changes.

Ensure alignment of industrial engineering activities with overall plant objectives.

Qualifications Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.

5+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience in an automotive or high‑volume production environment.

Prior leadership or project coordination experience required; supervisory experience preferred.

Hands‑on background with manufacturing processes, layouts, and continuous improvement.

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ergonomic design principles.

Proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD or SolidWorks) for layout and design work.

Advanced Excel and data analysis skills; familiarity with Power BI preferred.

Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, JD Edwards, Plex, or similar).

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a practical, floor‑focused leadership style.

Ability to balance project execution with people management responsibilities.
