Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced
Mainframe Developer
with strong expertise in
COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS , coupled with a deep understanding of
healthcare claims processing
and
CAMMIS (California Medicaid Management Information System)
applications.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, testing, and supporting complex mainframe applications in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, code, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
Work on healthcare claims adjudication systems, including eligibility, enrolment, provider, and member modules.
Support and enhance CAMMIS applications, ensuring compliance with Medicaid and healthcare processing standards.
Analyse business requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and develop scalable, maintainable code.
Perform impact analysis, root cause analysis, and defect resolution for production issues.
Optimize batch jobs and online transactions for performance and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, business analysts, and system architects.
Create and maintain system documentation, data flow diagrams, and technical specifications.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with healthcare industry standards (HIPAA).
Required Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with
COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
Working knowledge of
Healthcare Claims Processing Systems
(837/835 formats, adjudication, EDI transactions).
Experience with
CAMMIS
or
MMIS
applications preferred.
Familiarity with batch processing, file management, and data conversion techniques.
Strong debugging and analytical skills using tools like
XPEDITER, FILE-AID, and SPUFI .
Ability to work independently and deliver within deadlines.
Experience with
Agile development
and
DevOps
environments.
Exposure to
API or web service integration
from mainframe systems.
Knowledge of
Medicaid and Medicare
claim rules and state-specific healthcare systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in
Computer Science ,
Information Technology , or a related field (or equivalent experience).
