Senior Underwriter – Agency Conventional We are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to manage underwriting transactions on the Conventional Underwriting team in full compliance with agency guidelines, from origination through closing.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Underwrite multifamily housing mortgages on income‑producing properties across the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae agency platforms.
Prepare well‑written narratives and accurate spreadsheets for committee and agency approval.
Review and analyze borrower financial statements, schedules of real estate, third‑party reports, and legal documents to identify significant deal‑point issues.
Conduct site inspections in various markets as needed (average 2 times per month).
Participate in weekly due diligence calls and collaborate with analysts, closers, originators, and legal counsel.
Experience, Skills and Abilities Required
Minimum 8 + years of agency multifamily underwriting experience.
Bachelor’s or university degree.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to adopt new technology.
Experience underwriting both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac products.
Strong time‑management skills and ability to handle heavy workloads.
Confident borrower communication and expectation management.
Ability to solve problems independently and at basic to moderate levels.
Experience integrating AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance efficiency.
Effective collaboration with agency management and credit leads.
