This Associate General Counsel role is a great opportunity to work in a company that is on the cutting edge of the AI tech hardware design and manufacturing, as well as the global AI build-out. Reporting to the VP Legal, Trade, this Associate General Counsel role would play a leadership role by providing critical trade, import, and export control analysis and advice. This Associate General Counsel would manage the US export control team and work closely with business leaders around the world.

Provides legal guidance on and solutions to trade compliance matters, including export controls, deemed exports, sanctions and embargos, anti-boycott laws, product classifications, export licensing, product diversion, global trade contract provisions, and customs and import-related matters in support of global operations
Leads the Company’s US Trade Compliance Operations Team to develop innovative strategies to address and manage shifts in trade compliance risk, including changes in trade policy and law - across jurisdictions where the Company operates (NA, EMEA, and APAC)
Develops new ideas and methods to effectively address legal issues and mitigate trade compliance risk, particularly using AI and new technologies.
Identifies and resolves complex legal issues requiring in-depth analysis, specialized knowledge, and sound judgment
Manages and contributes to mission-critical, multifaceted projects, including transactions
Balances the Company's business interests with fiduciary responsibility
Conducts and manages M&A trade compliance due diligence
Interacts with partners, suppliers, customers, industry organizations, and other regulatory bodies as needed
Coordinates with other global functions and business units on global trade policy and advocacy matters
Manages outside trade counsel
Education & Experience
A Juris Doctor Degree (JD) and admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one U.S. state or the District of Columbia
Required 15-plus years of legal experience
Required management experience leading a team in a public company
Required deep export control experience
Required export control experience in the U.S. government
Preferred experience providing global trade-related legal advice at an international company in the semiconductor, tech, or defense industry
Extensive experience with U.S. trade controls (EAR, ITAR, OFAC, Customs), as well as other international trade control regimes
Significant experience managing multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills, coupled with the ability to actively listen
Ability to collaborate with others and work cross-functionally
Ability to effectively network and build relationships across all locations and levels of and positions within the organization
Ability to quickly understand organization and how it functions in order to apply that understanding to projects and assignments
A self-starter who proactively identifies opportunities to improve business and operational processes/procedures with innovative solutions
Demonstrated sound judgement and independent decision-making
Ability to effectively navigate conflict and effectively resolve issues
Availability to speak with colleagues in international time zones is required
Ability to maintain trust and confidentiality.
