Position Overview The Chicago White Sox Business Analytics Department is responsible for supporting the creative development and execution of long-term growth initiatives of the team in terms of both revenue and fans. We are dedicated to continuously learning more about fans of the Chicago White Sox and focus on improving customer facing revenue streams, growing fan engagement, and optimizing marketing effectiveness across channels. We serve as consultants and advisors on the strategic direction for the company and on individual initiatives. The department's overall vision is to be a fan insight hub for the entire organization, delivering timely data and insights to key decision makers across our business operations. The Business Intelligence Analyst will play a vital role in continuing to evolve ticket sales strategy in an ever-changing marketplace. This includes owning reporting for various departments, assisting with pricing and inventory management, as well as ad hoc analytical projects. We are internal consultants selling our services every day; cultivating relationships and building trust across multiple departments is a vital aspect of the role. The ideal candidate will be analytical, driven, and curious along with having a desire to learn and grow.

Job Responsibilities Reporting, Data Visualization, & Analysis

Develop business intelligence tools with a goal of automation and providing the right data, at the right time, to the right audience. Departments supported include ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship, food & beverage, retail, and park operations

Work with teammates in Business Strategy & Analytics and IT on data validation within both the data warehouse and other external sources used for reporting and analysis

Combine large and disparate data sources for ad hoc analysis

Translate back end, raw data from ticketing and other sources into meaningful categorizations and reporting for the business

Use data to continually tell stories and help the organization learn more about our fans and deliver a memorable fan experience

Work with teammates in Business Strategy & Analytics and IT to maintain, enhance, and expand the data pipelines flowing into and out of the White Sox Data Warehouse

Ticket Pricing & Inventory Management

Assist with ticket inventory management for the full 81 game home schedule by developing internal models, tools, and processes to manage all ticketing inventory

Collaborate with the box office, ticket sales, and third-party ticketing partners to review the tools and processes used to manage inventory and make recommendations to the organization where applicable

Leverage historical data, market data, and other sources to maximize results across the full 81 game home schedule

Identify inefficiencies and areas of slippage in pricing strategy

Stay up to date on latest trends and tools in the sports and entertainment industry, specific to pricing

Qualifications / Characteristics Required to Drive Success in the Role

Bachelor’s degree with a consistent track record of professional and personal achievement

Must be able to identify problems, their sources, and their potential solutions while continuing to successfully conduct day-to-day operations without interruption

Strong business acumen and application of data and insights to business strategy

Exceptional Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

Proficiency in SQL (R or Python a plus) and familiarity with relational databases and data warehouses

Strong visual design skills and experience building and interpreting Tableau dashboards and reports (or an equivalent visualization software)

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with strong critical thinking and attention to detail

A strong desire to work for a high profile, small business
