A Chicago-based, full-service design, engineering, and consulting firm is looking for extra electrical design support for the next 6+ months!
Job Description
Independently execute electrical design tasks including system layout, equipment selection, and integration of power distribution, lighting control, and life safety systems
Partner with engineers and project leads to refine design strategies and ensure alignment with overall project objectives
Conduct thorough research and apply relevant building codes, industry standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and safety
Perform on-site assessments to verify existing electrical infrastructure, including capacity, configuration, and operational condition of power and safety systems
Prepare comprehensive design documentation for permitting and construction, including technical narratives, detailed specifications, load calculations, riser diagrams, and other supporting materials
Customize and update electrical specifications using standard formats such as CSI MasterFormat, tailoring them to project-specific requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
3+ years of experience in building systems design, preferably within a consulting engineering or architectural environment
Familiarity with codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, and ASHRAE
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
