Location: Boston, MA | Hybrid (4 days in-office, 1 day remote) Boston Arts Academy (BAA) is Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts. The Boston Arts Academy Foundation is the nonprofit partner that raises essential funds to ensure every student has access to a world-class education in the arts and academics. With more than 2,000 alumni shaping creative industries, education, and community leadership, we’re ready to expand and energize our alumni network — and we’re looking for a mission-driven professional to make it happen. Position Summary The Director of Alumni Engagement will design and lead a bold new alumni relations and fundraising program that connects, supports, and inspires BAA graduates. This is not a “maintain what exists” position — it’s a rare opportunity to build something new. The Director will design engagement strategies, create signature programs and events, and cultivate meaningful relationships that strengthen alumni pride and philanthropy. Reporting to the President and managing an Alumni Coordinator, this position will also raise $250,000+ annually to fund scholarships and student success initiatives. Key Responsibilities Alumni Relations & Community Engagement Design and execute a multi-year alumni engagement strategy with clear metrics and annual goals. Plan and manage 3–4 signature alumni programs and events each year (reunions, mentorship programs, networking panels). Build a culture of mentorship, volunteerism, and giving back among alumni. Establish and support an Alumni Advisory Board of 10–15 members who champion alumni engagement and philanthropy. Develop inclusive strategies to engage alumni across diverse backgrounds and creative fields. Lead alumni fundraising initiatives to raise up to $250,000 annually for scholarships and programs. Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 50–75 alumni donors and prospects. Partner with the Foundation’s development team to integrate alumni giving into larger annual fund and major gift campaigns. Launch creative digital fundraising challenges and giving campaigns that drive participation. Identify and leverage alumni connections for corporate sponsorships, event partnerships, and employer engagement. Program Strategy, Data & Communications Manage and enhance the alumni CRM/database (Raiser’s Edge or Salesforce) to track engagement, giving, and career outcomes. Use data analytics to measure and report on alumni participation and philanthropic trends. Create compelling newsletters, social media, and storytelling content that celebrates alumni success and strengthens community pride. Collaborate with marketing and communications on campaigns that amplify alumni visibility and impact. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s in nonprofit management, communications, or arts administration preferred). 5–7 years of professional experience in alumni relations, fundraising, donor relations, community engagement, or nonprofit development. Proven success designing and executing engagement programs and fundraising campaigns. Experience in independent schools, higher education advancement, or arts nonprofits is a plus. Strong relationship management and communication skills. Experience using CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar). Exceptional organization and project management skills.
