Position Summary The Pharmacy Automation Specialist maintains and runs pharmacy automation such as chemotherapy compounding robots, unit-based cabinets, medication carousels, barcode medication technology and other assigned automation. They serve as an automation superuser and educator for assigned automation through the creation and modification of standard operating procedures and educational and instructional materials. They serve as a resource for information regarding assigned automation to customers, responsible for working with the customers and the vendor to keep automation functioning properly and minimizing downtimes. Implements and assists with automation upgrades and testing, as necessary. Supports testing of new functionality and vendor upgrades. Responsible for reviewing and correcting, where necessary, medication error reports related to assigned technology, serves to promote Pharmacy based interdisciplinary technology efforts to facilitate optimal use of assigned automation. Provides cross coverage for other pharmacy technician functions. Position may have on call responsibility.

Full time (40 hours)

Location Johns Hopkins Hospital, Central Pharmacy, Baltimore, MD

Qualifications

Associate degree (or equivalent) plus 1 year of relevant experience; or 5 years of experience as a hospital pharmacy technician is preferred.

Current certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)

Current registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.

A minimum of one year experience as a hospital pharmacy technician is required and one year of experience with pharmacy automation is desired.

Salary and Compensation Salary Range: Minimum $24.54/hour - Maximum $40.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
