Relativity Space
At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level.
About the Team:
The Structures team at Relativity is responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing of our launch vehicle integrated structures, as well as flight mechanisms. As part of this team, you will have hardware ownership for the full product lifecycle and opportunities to validate hardware through testing at our factory of the future, headquartered in Long Beach, CA. You will work across teams to leverage Relativity’s first-of-its-kind 3D printing technology to develop world-class integrated launch vehicles.
About the Role:
The scope of work encompasses a full design cycle, including conceptualization, design, analysis, manufacturing and testing for primary and secondary structures related to thrust structure, propellant tanks, interstage, or fairing, among others. You will think creatively and leverage innovation to reduce mass, parts, processes and tooling required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Innovative conceptualization of structural load paths, design for complex structures and adjacent system packaging
Review of static and dynamic load inputs, material properties and tests, and structural systems and subsystems requirements
Analysis and sizing of flight structures to ensure timely design reviews and drawing release
Develop and support hardware test campaigns, including test integration, operation and result evaluation
Qualifications and experience:
2+ years of experience in a design engineering role
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline
Experience with industry-standard CAD packages such as NX, Creo, or SolidWorks
Working knowledge of structural analysis (hand calculations, finite element methods) and testing
Fundamental knowledge of structural strength, stability and fatigue failure mechanisms
Nice to have but not required:
3+ years of mechanical or structural design and analysis experience
Experience with NX/TeamCenter
Experience using Nastran and ANSYS
Experience with GD&T and drafting
On compensation and equal opportunity:
We are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. Compensation is part of our total rewards package, including a competitive salary and equity, PTO and sick leave, parental leave, an annual learning and development stipend, and more.
