Nurse Navigator - Pacific Oncology Clinic - FT Days UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. Position Summary: The incumbent functions independently, providing direct and indirect patient care based on the nursing process for the patients in the oncology clinic. The nurse is the primary clinical contact for oncology patients, offering education and support throughout the continuum of care, from pre‑procedure to chemotherapy, hospitalization, anticipated discharge and follow‑up visits in physician offices.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care and nursing services in accordance with the oncology nursing process.

Educate patients and families on cancer care, diagnostic procedures, medications/chemotherapy and complex aspects of the plan of care.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care and interventions, ensuring continuity from pre‑procedure, chemotherapy protocols to discharge and follow‑up.

Serve as the primary contact for oncology patients, addressing patient and family education needs.

Support faculty in clinic for every patient care session and assist with additional activities as assigned to grow practice growth and referral pipelines.

Maintain accurate documentation, quality of nursing practice and compliance with clinic protocols.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Nursing and active California RN license.

Minimum 6 months experience working as an RN in an inpatient or outpatient oncology setting, or 1 year clinical experience with a recent completion of an oncology nursing basics class (Oncology Nursing Society) within the previous year.

Demonstrated customer‑service skills and excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Knowledge of chemotherapy agents and current practices in oncology nursing.

Basic Life Support certification (current).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with hematologic malignancies patient population.

Oncology or Hematology Oncology Nurse Certification.

Knowledge of complications associated with hematologic oncology conditions.

Understanding of immunosuppressive therapies and post‑transplant patient care.

Bilingual skills for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
