We have an immediate need to hire an experienced Histotechnician to work on site in our Santa Monica, CA lab. We offer comprehensive pay, benefit package and PTO. If you meet the qualifications noted below, we look forward to receiving your application.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The histotechnician assists in performing all functions related to preparation of specimens and slides for pathologist examination, including gross examination, preparation and cutting of blocks, preparation and staining of slides. Maintains tissues, blocks, and slides after examination according to policy. Performs all safety, maintenance and quality control activities appropriate for the technical area including:
Specimen Accessioning
Specimen Embedding and Microtomy
QC/QA Participation
Filing of blocks and slides and slide distribution
Participation in supply inventory management and ordering if applicable
Proper use of LIS; Novopath
Utilizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all equipment; tissue processors (Sakura Tissue-Tek VIP, Sakura Tissue Tek-Prisma 6131 slide stainer and linked automated coverslipper and all histology equipment).
H/E and special staining and preparation of solutions
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related scientific discipline or Accredited associate’s degree (or 60+ credit hours) or certificate program with certification as a Technician by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
3+ years of relevant experience in an anatomic pathology laboratory is preferred
Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Must demonstrate highly ethical behavior and good judgment including the ability to always maintain the utmost confidentiality
Ability to ensure accurate, timely completion of assigned responsibilities
Ability to build rapport and interact collaboratively with team members
Respectfully accepts coaching and guidance understanding it is intended to impart knowledge and help with career development and growth
Highly PC Proficient with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, database systems
Proof of legal eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future
Ability to successfully pass an in-depth background investigation, including credit check and with a clean DMV report
or any combination of academic education, professional training, and development along with applied work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
Compensation / Benefits:
Competitive pay range $30 - $40/hour depending on applicable experience level
Benefit eligibility for FT employees working 30+ hours weekly begins first of the month following 30 days of employment
Eligibility to participate in our 401(k) program begins first of the month following 60 days of employment
