Export Controls / Sanctions Senior Associate or Special Counsel
Kelley Drye & Warren LLP’s International Trade Practice Group is seeking a highly motivated senior-level associate or Special Counsel with a solid background in compliance with international trade laws, export controls, and sanctions regulations. We are seeking this attorney to join our legal team, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while fostering our commitment to ethical business practices. Ideal candidates will have previous law firm experience and at least 7 years of experience advising clients in export controls and sanctions laws, including: Provide expert legal advice on export controls and sanctions regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and sanctions regulations promulgated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Ability to monitor, analyze and provide oral and written counsel to clients regarding nuanced and complex changes in regulations affecting export controls and sanctions. Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and training programs for employees. Experience in managing complex investigations related to potential violations of U.S. export control and sanctions laws. Ability to conduct risk assessments and compliance audits related to export controls and sanctions. Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies regarding compliance-related matters. Support multi-national clients with operational solutions to complex, cross-border matters implicating U.S. export controls and sanctions compliance. Candidates must also possess: Strong analytical abilities. Excellent client-relation skills and comfort with working with different clients. Proven ability to organize, oversee and prioritize multiple assignments and projects simultaneously; and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with top academic credentials and strong interpersonal skills. We work seamlessly across office lines and are open to considering experienced candidates in any Kelley Drye office but have a strong preference for the candidate to be based in Washington, DC.
