IT Assistant (Part‑Time) – Website / Mobile Developer
Position: IT Assistant (Part‑Time) – Website / Mobile Developer at LaGuardia Community College, City University of New York.
Overview Design, develop, and maintain the LaGuardia & Wagner Archives website and mobile applications, ensuring alignment with the institution’s brand and enhancing user experience for primary materials that document New York City’s social and political history. Under the supervision of the IT Associate, the role supports the Archives’ mission and provides technical expertise in web and mobile development.
Responsibilities
Develop, update and maintain the ASP.NET Archives website ensuring high performance and responsiveness.
Develop and customize WordPress themes, templates, and plugins using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Troubleshoot and resolve website performance, security, and user‑experience issues.
Develop mobile applications for iOS and Android that communicate archive data to users.
Use mobile programming languages (Objective‑C, Java, VB.NET, C#) and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, web services) to build mobile applications.
Understand object‑oriented concepts and software‑development methods.
Maintain web services and databases (ASP.NET, PHP, and MS SQL Server) that feed data to mobile apps.
Minimum Qualifications Level 1
High School diploma or equivalent with 2 years full‑time experience in a computer or technology‑related position; or
Associate’s degree with 1 year full‑time experience; or
Bachelor’s degree with 6 months full‑time experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
Level 2
High School diploma or equivalent with 3 years full‑time experience; or
Associate’s degree with 2 years experience; or
Bachelor’s degree with 18 months experience.
Level 3
High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years experience; or
Associate’s degree with 4 years experience; or
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years and 6 months experience; or
Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 3 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in WordPress development, theme and plugin customization.
Front‑end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design frameworks.
Experience with Adobe Dreamweaver, Visual Studio IDE, Xcode, Photoshop.
Experience developing mobile apps that interact with web services (Objective‑C, Java, VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, PHP, jQuery, JavaScript, HTML5).
Intermediate to advanced SQL query and stored‑procedure writing.
Solid problem‑solving, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Experience with Google Analytics (preferred).
Compensation New Hire: $30.99 per hour; Incumbent: $34.99 per hour (reflecting a 13% salary suppression for the first 24 months).
