Research Program Assistant II (Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences)
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Research Program Assistant II to assist with clinical research involving the Clinic Cohort of the Johns Hopkins Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (JHADRC). The cohort consists of over 350 participants, including cognitively normal individuals, those with mild cognitive impairments, and persons with dementia. Participants are evaluated annually in-person at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center or by telephone, depending on feasibility and cognitive status.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Review list of participants due for their annual visit and schedule visits, coordinating with previous evaluators.
Administer screening questionnaires over the phone to assess eligibility of new participants and administer a neuropsychological test battery as needed.
Prepare study packets required for participant evaluation.
Review study forms for completeness and accuracy after each visit.
Enter data into the JHADRC database on a secured centralized server.
Generate subject lists from the database to track data entry status.
Assist with tasks related to autopsy approval, including tracking agreed autopsies, contacting participants for follow‑up, sending completed forms to the Neuropathology Core, and answering related questions.
Assist with processing blood specimens and maintaining a log to ensure specimens are sent to the Biomarker Core for long‑term storage.
Acquire office and medical supplies.
Collaborate with junior and senior faculty, nurses, and physicians.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work well with a research team and a diverse participant population across a range of cognitive functions.
Proficient computer skills and accuracy in data coding, form review, and data entry.
Capacity to work independently with modest direction.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
Two years of related experience.
Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a health‑related field.
Familiarity with basic medical terminology.

Starting Salary Range: $15.70 - $26.25/hour (target $47,000; commensurate with experience)

Health Screening and Immunization Requirements Pre‑employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, or involving research subjects requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap vaccination. This may include documentation of two MMR vaccines, two Varicella vaccines, or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre‑employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
