Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Drive the evolution of a hub-and-spoke analytics model by partnering with Data Science leadership to shape its design, ensure alignment across BI strategy, and guide effective implementation. Lead analytics communication planning and ensure operational readiness for product launch analytics, partnering with stakeholders to keep them informed and aligned on analytics strategy. Partner with Player and Data Insights leadership to streamline operations and maintain transparency and alignment across the organization. Actively participate and represent Data Insights in product and business reviews, coordinating information flow across data functions. Prepare and streamline RoB materials and dashboards for speed and clarity, aligning with Data Science leadership on strategic interpretation and executive storytelling. Operational Excellence
Maintain relationships with Player and Data Insights leadership, ensuring coordination and alignment in key priorities and analytics strategies. Coordinate joint efforts with product and other stakeholder teams, representing Player and Data Insights teams in large scale projects at Mojang Studios. Collaborate with Data Engineering and Analytics Environment teams to ensure best-in-class data coverage in support of Business Intelligence and analytics strategy deliverables. Own coordination of delivery of data streams, analytics narratives, and reporting, to Xbox and Game Content & Studios partners and other external partners, in coordination with other Player and Data Insights Teams. Represent analytics in new game development efforts, ensuring new game telemetry and data specs align with Mojang governance frameworks and represent a “north star” framework of analytics deliverables for key products. Conduct hands‑on analysis using Big Data technologies (PySpark, SQL) to inform acquisition, engagement, retention, and monetization strategies. Synthesize complex data into clear recommendations for product teams and leadership. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders. Required Qualifications
Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience Experience with Big Data technologies such as PySpark and SQL for acquisition, engagement, retention, and/or monetization analysis. Experience with stakeholder management, analytics storytelling, and presentation to large audiences. Preferred Qualifications
Games industry knowledge Familiarity with game development analytics, including telemetry and governance frameworks. Proficient in AI/ML concepts, frameworks, and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch). Experience using big data tools such as Spark (PySpark), Databricks. Understanding of data science principles and methodologies. Experience with software development processes and tools (e.g., Agile, Azure DevOps). Ability to synthesize complex data into strategic recommendations for leadership. Business Analytics IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 – $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 – $272,300 per year.
