Join Komatsu and Be Part of Something Big! Job Overview As an Infrastructure Engineer at Komatsu, you'll be at the forefront of driving transformation across a global enterprise—shaping the future of how we deliver secure, scalable, and resilient IT services. This role gives you the opportunity to work hands‑on with cutting‑edge technologies like Nutanix AHV, cloud‑native platforms, and infrastructure‑as‑code, while also influencing modernization strategies that impact the entire organization. Beyond the technical challenge, you'll thrive in a collaborative, people‑first culture that values inclusivity, professional growth, and innovation. If you're passionate about solving complex problems, mentoring others, and making a lasting impact on how technology empowers the business, this is the role for you.
Key Job Responsibilities
Drive strategic modernization initiatives by leading the design, implementation, and adoption of infrastructure‑as‑code, automation, and cloud‑native practices across the enterprise.
Provide oversight and leadership for operational support of critical infrastructure in both cloud platforms and co‑located data centers, ensuring service reliability and guiding junior staff where appropriate.
Lead proof‑of‑concept (POC) efforts with vertical teams to evaluate emerging technologies, develop business cases, and influence enterprise adoption strategies.
Act as a thought leader on infrastructure trends, bringing forward innovative solutions and advising leadership on opportunities to enhance scalability, security, and efficiency.
Foster cross‑team collaboration with security, service delivery, applications, and business units, serving as a connector who breaks down silos and champions inclusive, team‑oriented problem solving.
Mentor and coach peers and junior engineers, contributing to team development, knowledge sharing, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills:
PKI / Cloud PKI expertise:
Hands‑on experience designing, implementing, and operating Public Key Infrastructure solutions in both on‑premises and cloud environments—emphasizing secure certificate lifecycle management, trust models, key rotation, and integration with infrastructure automation.
Nutanix AHV hypervisor proficiency:
Deep working knowledge of Nutanix's native, Type‑1 hypervisor (Acropolis Hypervisor), including integrated virtualization with Nutanix HCI, Prism management, automation via APIs, live migration, HA, and performance/resiliency optimizations.
Storage optimization & tiering strategies:
Applied understanding of hierarchical data tiering—moving data across hot, warm, and cold storage based on access patterns to maximize performance and minimize cost. Familiarity with both hardware‑based and cloud/object‑tiering models (e.g., SSD to HDD to object/blob storage).
Infrastructure‑as‑code (IaC):
Advanced use of tools like Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation (or equivalents) to define, provision, and manage infrastructure through code—enabling repeatability, compliance, version control, and automation.
Deployment orchestration:
Proficiency in coordinating and automating multi‑stage deployments across environments using orchestrators such as Kubernetes (incl. K8s‑native workloads on AHV), GitOps toolchains, or equivalent technologies to streamline CI/CD pipelines and delivery workflows.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Equivalent hands‑on experience in infrastructure engineering or related technical roles will be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
5+ years in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or cloud operations, with progressive responsibility.
Demonstrated experience in modernization efforts such as automation, infrastructure‑as‑code, or cloud migrations.
Strong track record of cross‑team collaboration and working effectively in diverse technical environments.
Certifications: None required. Industry certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMware, Cisco, Terraform) are highly valued but not mandatory.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel expected (up to 10‑15%), including regional site visits and domestic travel for team or project collaboration.
